Across 11 steps, members are guided through: - Understanding what a revocable living trust is, how it works, and the role of grantor, trustee, and beneficiary - Drafting and executing a revocable living trust instrument - Recording the trust on the county record where applicable - Registering an Employer Identification Number (EIN). - Navigating IRS-approved e-filing software to prepare and submit Form 1040 (individual return for the sole proprietor) and Form 1041 (income tax return for the trust) - Reading and understanding IRS tax transcripts - Awaiting and reconciling any legitimate refund the filer is entitled to, based on accurately reported figures - An overview of common IRS information returns (the 1099 series, including 1099-B) for educational and tax-literacy purposes — what each form is for and who is required to file it - Basic record-keeping and bookkeeping practices for a sole proprietor -Opening new Business Service accounts (Mobile, Utilities, Etc..). Members do their own filings using their own information; the program provides software navigation help, education on what each form does, and answers to procedural questions.
